As quoted by the majority of the positive psychologists, happiness is not completely based on a person’s genetic disposition but on a strain of his actions too. In fact, happiness is determined up to 50 percent by a person’s genes, 10 percent by the circumstances he is posed with and 40 percent by his actions, attitude or optimism and the way he deals with situations. While the world holds a profusion of books and workshops that assist a person in making more money, hardly few people really find happiness from their hard-earned money. Moreover, people don’t pay even the slightest bit of focus towards achieving that 40 percent of self-made happiness which clearly entails reviving their behavior and mindset. How amazing it would be if a mere book can metamorphose your life with the right behavioral and mindset changes and fetch you that 40 percent of happiness in no time! Give no second thought and quickly read out ‘Simplify Your Life’, beautiful assimilation of 51 short experiences and experiments with life by me – “Vaibhav Datar” – Mid Life Coach.
Inside the leaves
This book is indeed the perfect recipe for instilling an imperfect soul with feelings of utmost bliss at work as well as at home. The best way to experience this book is to read it completely once and then read again one or two chapters each week to implement them slowly in your life. Comprising stories/chapters oriented around five basic feelings –feeling grateful, feeling gracious, feeling great, feeling playful and feeling me, the book is a collection of life’s important lessons weaved as one marvel, including a short assignment at the end of each story. I was in fact bestowed with boundless letters wishing and thanking; especially for creating this part of assignments in the book with deeply insightful, thought-provoking and interesting content. The stories on the other hand, for instance, are about how my son taught me to have a winning attitude in life and what can be learned from this simple experience or about how being crazy at times can help us in unwinding and relaxing.
The inspiration behind
Me as a family man with two kids, I am India’s most acclaimed midlife coach helping people at midlife and beyond in combating their challenges and placing them back onto the right tracks. Little did I know when I was in a rich and high paying job in the IT domain that I would become an Author? When I started coaching people at various levels, across industries and different backgrounds, I witnessed that every single person was trying harder and harder to make his/her life simple. In the actual quest for peace and joy, everyone was, in fact, piling up a lot of frustration and anger within and hence, I realized that they were in need of a mantra/quick fix to spruce up their lives. For instance, after few discussions with one of my clients who was undergoing enormous pressure and stress due to downsizing in his office, I understood that he had an irregular schedule, his health was bad and he seemed ten years older than he actually was. What he actually was craving for in life was peace and more happiness, living life on his terms, staying healthy, expressing gratitude and being kind and generous! After getting engaged with my experiences and experiments, he started living a very simple life and is much elated today. Gradually I came across many clients akin to this one who were all in dire need of more happiness in life and didn’t know how to achieve it. That is when the idea of Simplifying People’s lives germinated in me and I embarked on writing blogs on life under the name ‘From Now On’ which were actually my personal experiences and experiments with life. People indeed were genuinely delighted in reading my blogs and gave me numerous appreciations. This triggered a spark of inspiration in me to write more and more blogs and in a year I had weaved around 52 wonderful pieces of writings. Further with the help from my friend Rupak Shah, I connected with his present publisher ‘Story Mirror Publishing House’ and unveiled my book ‘Simplify Your Life’.
Experiences while weaving
It was a highly transformative phase in life for me while weaving the contents of the book wherein I evolved from being nobody to someone who lives what he writes. Every single day was suffused with curiosity and anxiety for me as I was completely obscure of the next experience, next topic and next story I was going to craft in my masterpiece. I would literally wait for the following week to unfold, to behold and express the world through my eyes and finally mold them into beautiful words. Despite the fear of being judged by the world based on my vulnerabilities that were exposed, I was relentless in pursuing my writing because I always recounted my coach Rich Litvin’s words ‘Let your vulnerabilities be your biggest strength’. As he expressed himself completely with no judgment, my whole experience while weaving the book was hugely gratifying and fulfilling. In fact, I wrote this book for myself, my family and kids, leaving them behind a commendable legacy. ‘Simplify Your Life’ is the perfect manifestation of my 40 years of experiences that entail my parents who shaping me as a child, my friends & peer groups helping me face the world and my clients, customers; teammates showing me ways to do business. This thread of his experiences also includes my family teaching me how to bond, relatives & neighbors helping in social bonding, My Guru teaching me how to lead a better life and God giving me the right environment to create and grow. Last few years of coaching and professional experience has definitely taught me how to lead a better life, molding me to face any situation in an adept manner. The book is also a summary of my experiences akin to ours, which manages to bring them into our field of awareness.
